familiar strange
Throughout my time studying at ArtEZ, I’ve explored the topic of feeling safe within personal spaces several times. After a traumatic experience that had my apartment stop feeling like a safe space, I wanted to focus on this topic one more time. ‘familiar strange’ shows how exhausting it was to have my apartment, no longer feel like home. Whilst the space physically didn’t change, the feeling had shifted from a place of comfort to a source of anxiety. However, I noticed individual objects started carrying this feeling instead. Maybe they were always a source of comfort in- and outside my home(s). I believe that most people have an object that carries this if we take a moment to think about it, appreciate it. Through projection mapping, the moving 3D renders get out of the screen and turn into something tangible

Echoes and Horizons
Two showreels for Beeld & Geluid (Sound & Vision) in which we used archival footage from collections ‘J.M Le Grand’ and ‘2149.’ Through endless horizons and rhythmic edits and by focussing on man vs machine, we show the vastness of the collections and the uniqueness of travelling in the interbellum era. In ‘Between Echoes and Horizons’ the emphasis is on the things that connect us all. To give more context, we have built a website with additional information. Giving the audience of exhibitions an opportunity to rewatch the showreels and look at the website again, we added small flip books with a link and QR code

Facing the Oceans
A suffocating face filter collection. An increasing number of sea species are unable to survive due to climate change. I reversed the roles to illustrate how our own actions would suffocate us, mirroring the fate of these innocent creatures

DE NIEUWE STAD (The New City)
A poster series of four exploring what I find important in cities; the main themes I added being nature, water, and public transport. In my ideal city nature and architecture would go hand in hand and cars would no longer be allowed
